Leader of Constructing Excellence to speak on “Collaborative Working and Frameworks in the Recession”.
Don Ward, National Chief Executive of Constructing Excellence is to address local construction leaders at a Constructing Excellence meeting in Lymm, Warrington on Friday 11th June 2010 on “Collaborative Working and Frameworks in the Recession”.
Drawing on the recent report “Never Waste a Good Crisis”, he will contrast ten years of progress in the industry with recent developments fuelled by the recession. This includes publicity surrounding a small number of high-profile clients, who have been reported as opting to “ditch frameworks” in favour of more competitive tendering. He will give a strong case for collaborative working and lean/efficient methods as the best chance to thrive in the tough times ahead.
Don is Chief Executive of Constructing Excellence, the main membership-led industry improvement body in the UK. He specialises in industry change, supply chain integration and collaborative working. He has over twenty years experience of best practice and change programmes. Don is one of the leading figures in the UK construction industry “reform movement”. Previous roles include Chief Executive of the Design Build Foundation and a five year stint as Chief Executive of the Construction Industry Board, which was set up to implement the 1994 “Latham Report”. His first ten years were spent at the Building Research Establishment working on low energy buildings.
Stephen Hankinson, Deputy Chair of the local Constructing Excellence Group said “it is a privilege to have Don Ward speak at a local event and his topic is highly relevant particularly with the anticipated cutbacks in public spending. I am sure it will be thought provoking”.
